Jack Groser and Carl Richards, rugby stars at Mirfield, 1912
In their first match, the newly-formed team of theological students defeated Leeds University "A" XV 46-0, and they went on to beat several strong Yorkshire clubs. Carl (seated centre) was the captain and fly-half - "coolness and resource" - Jack (next to Carl, left) was on the wing, and with his exceptional speed "showed the opposition a clean pair of heels"
